Owner: Arthur McGregor
Arthur has been organizing folk music all his life...so far. His first folk foray was the Eve of Destruction Cafe at the school of the Canadian Airforce base in Baden Soellingen in 1967. He organized it and played as part of a folk band called '1917', a name that went over big in Cold War Europe!
Later, he organized folk nights at his high school, ran The Pit Coffee House at Sarnia's YMCA, and helped organize Sarnia's first folk festival. Upon his move to Ottawa's Carleton University, he quickly started Rooster's Coffee House and ran it for three years. Organizing music lessons in Le Hibou opened the door to the Ottawa Folklore Centre in October 1976.
Arthur plays a bunch of musical instruments (jack of all trades) and performs solo as well as with his wife's children's show, The Celtic Rathskallions. He plays a mean ragtime version of O Canada at every Ottawa Folk Festival. He's a founding director of the Canadian Folk Music Awards. He writes with a fountain pen and is much too busy.

Music School: Alan Marsden
Alan has a B.A. in Music Performance from Carleton University and regularly teaches guitar students part-time through their performance program. He has experience performing as a soloist, with string quartets, flutists, small guitar orchestras, jazz bands, funk, folk, blues bands, flamenco, celtic, and is always in high demand at recording studios in the Ottawa area. He is currently obsessed with writing romantic classical guitar music, frightens easily near balloons, and worries far too much about time/space issues.
He is the current director of The OFC School Of Music.

He's played french canadian traditional music out west, accompanies flamenco dancers on guitar here in Ottawa and is currently playing lead guitar and lapsteel for up and coming Ottawa band The Murder Plans. Dabbling in the arcane arts of instrument building, he earned himself a Certificate of Lutherie from Timeless Instruments in Saskatchewan and has built guitars, mandolins and dulcimers. Joel is currently taking on the role of Retail Manager at the Ottawa Folklore Centre.

Webmonkey: Doug McArthur
Doug learned to hand code HTML in San Francisco in the mid-nineties where he attended weekly meetings of the legendary "BMUG" group in Berkeley and developed his Photoshop, Quark and web bending skills doing web and graphics work in Houston (J.W. Long & Associates) and Canada.
As an aside, J. W. Long was an original member of the even more legendary "Homebrew Club" in Palo Alto that included Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak & Steve Jobs as members. Apparently J. W. used to steal electronics for their experiments from his day job.
Doug currently specializes in web pages for artists that are easy to view and simple to use on dial up and older operating systems and has a happy clientele in the Wakefield, Québec region where he lives.
He has acted as web consultant for the OCFF and others.
